A Bit of History...

Some of the landmark moments in both our corporate history
& presence in Cork:

PepsiCo Timeline

The Pepsi Cola Company is formed by North Carolina pharmacist, Caleb Bradham.

— 1898

Pepsi Cola is merged with Frito Lay to form PepsiCo.

— 1965

A new facility is opened in Little Island, Cork to produce concentrate for brands such as Pepsi Cola and 7-Up.

— 1974

Irish operations expanded with the opening of a Financial Services division to provide for Cork and other global locations. This division has grown to serve 65 countries by 2009.

— 1996

A second Cork manufacturing site is added with a $100 million investment in Carrigaline.

— 2003

Cork becomes a flagship location in the company with the transfer of the worldwide concentrate HQ from New York to Ireland.

— 2007

Operations are further expanded in Cork with the addition of an R&D Pilot Plant, while the local Chamber of Commerce recognises our achievements with the award of Cork Company of the Year.

— 2008

PepsiCo Worldwide Flavours

In February 2008, PepsiCo Worldwide Flavours (PWF) formerly Worldwide Concentrate Operations officially launched its new name and Organisation Identity, headquartered in Cork Ireland, Operates from 18 locations in 12 countries.

Best Workplaces in Ireland 2009

Over 500 people are currently employed across our three Cork locations, working in diverse roles that include manufacturing, financial services and global IT support just to mention a few. In the Best Workplaces in Ireland 2009 survey, our employees voted PepsiCo one of the top 50 companies to work for in the country. In the national Excellence Through People Awards we were once more accredited to Platinum level in all three of our Cork sites. This award is a measure of the standards we have reached in the provision of training and HR services to our employees.

Best Workplaces in Ireland 2010

At the Great Place to Work Institute Best Workplaces award ceremony held on 24 February 2010 in Dublin, PepsiCo Ireland was announced as the Best Workplace in the Manufacturing Sector in Ireland and was also awarded 3rd Best Place to Work in Ireland overall in the large employer category.

Best Workplaces in Europe 2010

The Great Place to Work® Institute has announced the Best Workplaces in Europe 2010 listing at an awards ceremony in Madrid on 20 May 2010. PepsiCo’s operations in Ireland, France and Greece were named by the panel of judges as being the Tenth Best Company to work for in Europe.

Bottling Merger/acquisition

On March 1st 2010, PepsiCo announced that it has completed the $7.8 billion strategic acquisitions of its two largest bottlers, The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. and PepsiAmericas, Inc. With the completion of the mergers, PepsiCo today is the largest food and beverage business in North America and the second-largest in the world, with nearly $60 billion in annual revenues and approximately 285,000 employees. It also is the global leader in savory snacks.

PWF decides to implement SAP

PWF decides to implement SAP across all of the company’s locations worldwide. SAP is the leading world-class Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, utilised by many of the world’s leading businesses which can be deployed across all aspects of our business.

Gatorade

Did you KNOW?

Gatorade was created in 1965 by a team at the University of Florida’s medical faculty for use by that college’s football team, the Florida Gators.

PepsiCo has shown through its continued investment that it is committed to maintaining a large scale presence in the Cork area for many years to come.
