The original sports drink and still the most popular. Gatorade was created in 1965 by a team at the University of Florida’s medical faculty for use by that college’s football team, the Florida Gators. Today it provides a boost to active people all over the world.

Robert Cade, Dana Shires, Harry James Free, and Alejandro de Quesada were the medical researchers at the University of Florida who created the original Gatorade thirst quencher in 1965.
The original Gatorade contained water, sucrose (table sugar) and glucose-fructose syrups.
